Petri Mäntysalo, a long-time audio professional, chose the HEDD Type 20 MK2 monitors and the HEDD Bass 08 subwoofer for his mixing and mastering setup. After moving his studio between Finland and Spain, he needed compact three-way monitors that would work reliably in smaller spaces without sacrificing accuracy. I’ve been using the HEDD Type 20 Mk1 monitors in my home studio for both music production and post-production work, as well as for simply enjoying music. The sound feels exceptionally clean, with very low distortion in the bass and excellent directivity for nearfield listening. The AMT tweeters deliver a smooth and pleasant high end, and the bass extension down to 32 Hz is impressive for their size. Compared to other monitors I’ve owned, like Focal CMS 65, Focal Shape 65, and Dynaudio BM6a Mk1, the HEDD Type 20s offer a more balanced response and better integration of all frequency ranges.
